Eric was born in 1986 and raised in the Chicago area, learning bass from bassist and blogger Jason Heath before leaving in 2004 to study with Prof. James VanDemark at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. After several years of study with the renowned Professor Alois Posch in Vienna, Eric eventually made his way to Cologne to continue studying with Prof. Veit-Peter Schüßler.
Well versed in jazz as well as rock/pop, Eric plays in a variety of groups and bands touching all corners of the musical spectrum.
In 2012 Eric was named principal bassist of the Philharmonie Südwestfalen. He has performed and subbed with many other leading orchestras, including the West German Radio Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Gürzenich Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Aachen Symphony Orchestra, and the Lübeck Philharmonic, touring and performing across three continents. He has performed under the direction of many great conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Nabil Shehata and Manfred Honeck.
In 2017 Eric was featured as a soloist live on German Radio performing Nino Rota's Divertimento Concertante accompanied by the Philharmonie Südwestfalen.
Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music, a Post-Graduate Certificate from the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and a Master’s Degree from the Cologne University of Music and Dance.
Since 2018 Eric has been an adjunct professor for double bass at the University of Siegen and maintains a studio of private students in Germany as well as in the Chicago area.
Eric wurde 1986 geboren und wuchs in der Nähe von Chicago auf. 2004 zog er nach Rochester, New York, um an der bekannten Eastman School of Music mit Prof. James VanDemark zu studieren. Nach drei weiteren Jahren bei Prof. Alois Posch in Wien kam er 2011 nach Köln, wo er weiter mit Prof. Veit-Peter Schüßler studierte.
Eric hat auch Erfahrung mit Jazz, neuer Musik und Rock/Pop und spielt Eric in mehreren Ensembles und Bands.
Eric wurde 2012 zum Solo-Bassist der Philharmonie Südwestfalen ernannt und hat in der Vergangenheit u.a. beim WDR Funkhaus Orchester, den Münchener Philharmonikern, dem Gürzenich Orchester, dem Sinfonieorchester Aachen, dem Wiener Kammerorchester und den Lübecker Philharmonikern mitgespielt. Er ist bei Konzertreisen durch viele Länder in drei Kontinenten gereist und hat unter der Leitung von zahlreichen großen Dirigenten gespielt wie Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Nabil Shehata und Manfred Honeck.
Begleitet von der Philharmonie Südwestfalen spielte Eric 2017 live als Solist im WDR3 Radio Nino Rotas Divertimento Concertante.
Eric hat einen Bachelor von der Eastman School of Music, ein Post-Gradual Zertifikat von der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien und einen Master von der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
Seit 2018 ist Eric Lehrbeauftragte für Kontrabass an der Universität Siegen. Er unterrichtet Schüler privat in Deutschland sowie in den USA.
